While many gardens shut down over the winter season, the University of Melbourne's Burnley Campus is helping to inform gardeners about how best to prepare their gardens for a bountiful spring with Annual Pruning Day. Visions also looks at the Music Therapy course offered at the University, and how it is helping sick children cope with the experience of being in hospital.
Burnley Pruning Day:
During winter, our plants need to be in the best condition to cope with the cold, and to produce a bountiful crop of fruit and flowers when Spring returns. To inspire gardeners, the University of Melbourne’s Burnley campus is holding their Annual Pruning Day on Saturday the 19th of July.
Booking for workshops is essential so please call 9250 6800. For more information on any of the activities for Pruning Day or courses at Burnley visit http://www.fobg.org.au or http://www.horticulture.unimelb.edu.au/.
Making Music, Being Well:
Being in hospital can be a very stressful, unpleasant time for sick children, their families and carers. The role of music therapists is to draw on the natural wellness inside us all to help us cope with difficult circumstances.
Information about the music therapy program at the University of Melbourne can be found at http://www.music.unimelb.edu.au/courses/therapy.html.
